Consumer Rights

WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS UNDER FCRA?

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is the federal law that governs consumer background reports and consumer reporting agencies, like Candid Research, Inc. (CRAs). If an employer decides to run a background check on you through a CRA, the FCRA states that the employer must notify you that they intend to conduct a background check and that the results could influence their hiring decision and also obtain your written consent before conducting the background check. Before the employer can take adverse action against you based on negative information on your report, they must:

If, after taking all these steps, the employer still decides not to hire you, they must send you a final Adverse Action Letter in writing.

HOW LONG WILL YOUR INVESTIGATION INTO MY DISPUTE TAKE?

While we strive to address your concern within 24 hours, the dispute investigation process may take up to 30 days to resolve, depending on the nature, scope and source of the information being disputed. If we determine that the information on the report is inaccurate, we will provide an amended report to you and the employer.
